The Folkestone & District Local History Society produces a variety of publications and recently has put together a series of DVD chronicling the town's history from 1900 to the present day. All these DVDs are available from our website. Please visit the Publications for Sale page for more details. However below are various samples from each DVD

Volume 1 (1900-1914)

Volume 2 (1914-1939)

Volume 3 (1939-1970)

For Volume 4 (1970-2000), you'll just have to trust us and buy it from our website!

Also, local historians Ken and June Paine produced a history of the Leas Cliff Hall which is also available from the Leas Cliff Hall.

Additionally, in 1992, local historian and member of the Folkestone & District Local History Society, Eamonn Rooney, narrated a video detailing the history of the town. Sadly this video is out of print and was only available in video format, but here is a clip from the video.

Additionally of interest might be the footage of Edwardian Folkestone at work and play that is held by the National Archives. These can also be viewed via the links below. The second clip even shows what it was like to ride the Switchback!
