Rene’ Testart

Rene’ Testart  French Army

Unfortunately there is little can say about this man but that he was in the French Army and had a brother or other relation called Robert.  Holy Trinity Parish Magazine asks parishioners to pray for them both.  It is possible that the family came over with the Belgium refugees in 1914.. There are no Testarts living in Folkestone in 1911 (census) and are not in 1913 and 1915 local trade directories.  The General Register of Births, deaths and Marriages for England and Wales has no entries for Testart.  The only other reference to the family is in the Folkestone Herald 16th January 1915 in a list of men serving from the Harvey Grammar School it states “Testard is with the French Army.”.  It is not clear if this is Rene or Robert.
